Nick Cook — Director of Innovation, FCA
Nick leads the FCA’s Innovation Division. This includes the FCA’s RegTech initiatives, its data and analytics strategy, machine learning endeavours, and Innovate activities (including regulatory sandbox, Global Financial Innovation Network and direct support). Nick represents the FCA on the European Securities and Markets Authority’s (ESMA) Financial Innovation Standing Committee and is an advisor to the RegTech for Regulators Accelerator Programme. Nick is a Certified Chartered Accountant with 9 years forensic investigative experience at the FSA and KPMG.
Francis Gross — Senior Adviser Directorate General Statistics, ECB
Francis Gross is Senior Adviser in the Directorate General Statistics of the European Central Bank. His interests include developing vision and strategy for overcoming the dual disruption of rapid globalization and digitization, as well as designing and driving the implementation of concrete, feasible measures with transformational power. His focus is on the “real world – data world” interface, primarily object identification. He serves on the Regulatory Oversight Committee of the Global LEI System (GLEIS) and has been instrumental in the emergence and development of the GLEIS.
Jeff Bandman — Principal, Bandman Advisors & co-founder, Global Digital Finance
Jeff is a founder and non-executive director of the Global Digital Finance Initiative (GDF.io) to establish an industry-driven global code of conduct and taxonomy for cryptoassets, and leads regulatory engagement globally. Jeff is Lecturer in Global Affairs at Yale, teaching cryptoassets and public policy in the Yale Jackson Institute for Global Affairs in Fall 2018. He is a member of the RegTech Council. He serves on the Board of Advisors of Templum Inc. and iComply Investor Services. He acts as FinTech regulation mentor for the Techstars Barclays FinTech Accelerator program. Jeff is an Industry Fellow of the University of Nicosia Blockchain Initiative and Research Fellow of the Blockchain for Algorithmic Regulation and Compliance (BARAC) initiative at University College London’s Centre for Blockchain Technologies.
John Neasham — Director CDO, Deutsche Bank
Prior to joining the bank John spent a number of years interpreting banking regulation at Deloitte and Ernst & Young for clients predominantly focussed in America and UKI. With a computer science degree John has long held an interest in optimising the end-to-end process to capture new reg driven business requirements and design and deliver solutions that are fit for purpose.
Giles Nelson — Chief Technology Officer, Financial Services, MarkLogic
Giles is Chief Technology Officer for Financial Services at MarkLogic where he’s responsible for MarkLogic’s technology go-to-market in financial services worldwide. Giles has had 20 years of experience in the software and financial services industry. He was previously at Software AG where he had global responsibility for its Big Data and Streaming Analytics business. Previous to that he was at Progress Software where he was instrumental in taking its innovative financial services products global. Giles joined Progress when it acquired the event processing and Streaming Analytics vendor Apama, a company he co-founded, which acquired over 150 clients in financial services. Giles holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge.
