Data lineage as part of an enterprise data management platform is a crucial capability for financial services firms

London – December 7, 2018 – MarkLogic Corporation, the leading operational and transactional Enterprise NoSQL database provider, today announced its winning of the 2018 Best Data Lineage Solution award at this year’s Data Management Review Awards held in London.

The award recognizes excellence in data management in financial services, and demonstrates how MarkLogic is enabling its asset management and investment bank customers to more effectively comply with regulation by tracking customer and trade activity over time whilst dealing with an ever-changing regulatory landscape.

MarkLogic was the only NoSQL data management vendor shortlisted for the award by senior users from financial firms across the world. Its entry focused on how MarkLogic’s data lineage capabilities enabled its customers to flexibly meet new compliance requirements by understanding who has access to what data, what data resides in which systems and how data flows across an organisation.

“MarkLogic is delighted to accept this award. We have been active in financial services since 2008 and have developed a blue-chip customer base of buy and sell-side capital markets firms using MarkLogic for a wide range of business critical use cases, such as regulatory compliance with MiFID II,” said Dr. Giles Nelson, CTO of Financial Services. He added: “With MarkLogic® our customers can rapidly integrate data silos and transform, search and analyze this data. Crucially, as this award shows, MarkLogic has market-leading data lineage capabilities that allow our customers to quickly reconstruct trades, trace data lineage and report analysis for real-time tracking and reporting.”

Financial services firms that use relational or single model database vendors struggle with data lineage due to the disconnected nature of the resulting data architecture. Only with the ability to handle multiple data models as well as both structured and unstructured data, can financial services firms improve data governance and efficiently handle constantly changing compliance requirements.
