SAN CARLOS, Calif. — May 14, 2010 — MarkLogic Corporation, a leading provider of information infrastructure software, today announced that MarkLogic Server 4.1 has been named the winner of the prestigious CODiE Awards in the “Best Database Management Solution” category for the second year in a row. The winners of the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) 25th annual CODiE Awards were announced at a luncheon held this week in conjunction with the All About the Cloud conference in San Francisco.

One hundred eighty-eight products from 136 companies were selected as awards finalists from more than 785 nominations submitted by 374 companies. Nominated products underwent an intensive review by subject matter experts, analysts, journalists, and others with deep experience in the field. A listing of the 34 winners is now available on the CODiE Awards Website at www.siia.net/CODiEs.

“Now in its 25th year, the CODiE Awards continue to recognize those companies providing the best new technology products and services across a broad array of industries,” noted SIIA President Ken Wasch. “In addition, its winners are a prolific testament to the power of technology to deliver innovative solutions to businesses and consumers. SIIA warmly congratulates all of the winners and nominees of the CODiE Awards, whose innovation is essential for continuing America’s leadership in the global knowledge economy.”

Originally called the “Excellence in Software Awards,” the CODiEs were established in 1986 by the Software Publishers Association (SPA), which preceded the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). The program was created so that pioneers of the then-nascent software industry could evaluate and honor each other’s work. Since then, the CODiE Awards program has carried out the same purpose – to showcase the software and information industry’s finest products and services and to honor excellence in corporate achievement and philanthropic efforts.

“Since the vast majority of the world’s information doesn’t fit neatly into traditional databases, we see that organizations are continuing to seek alternative databases that are optimized for semi- and unstructured information,” said Dave Kellogg, CEO, MarkLogic Corporation. “By enabling our customers to build and deploy next-generation information applications, MarkLogic is uniquely positioned to challenge the incumbent players in the market.”
