SAN CARLOS, Calif. — August 23, 2010 — MarkLogic Corporation, the company revolutionizing the way organizations leverage unstructured information, today announced that it has been honored as one of KMWorld’s Trend-Setting Products of 2010. The annual Trend-Setting Products Awards began in 2003 and recognizes products that demonstrate clearly identifiable technology breakthroughs that serve the vendors’ full spectrum of constituencies, especially their customers.

This year, more than 600 products were assessed by a judging panel consisting of editorial colleagues, analysts, system integrators, vendors themselves, line-of-business managers, and users.

“We chose companies who best exemplify the spirit of innovation through technology breakthroughs and advancements that meet the demands of customers in today’s economy,” said Hugh McKellar, editor in chief, KMWorld Magazine. “MarkLogic was an obvious choice for us as it is at the forefront of re-inventing the database market with a product for unstructured information.”

MarkLogic Server is a purpose-built database for unstructured data that provides the agility needed to build and deploy next-generation information applications. As a key part of an organization’s information infrastructure, it gives users the functionality and flexibility required to adapt quickly to changing market conditions and new requirements.

“This recognition from KMWorld again this year is a testament to our ability to deliver on our promise to customers,” said Tracy Eiler, senior vice president of marketing, MarkLogic Corporation. “MarkLogic is transforming the way organizations leverage data. Our customers are able to tap into the vast resources of unstructured information – which makes up more than 70 percent of the data they are storing. Our founder saw that the traditional ways of managing and delivering information using relational databases and search engines were no longer sufficient. Organizations need a radically new approach – MarkLogic provides just that.”
