MarkLogic President and CEO Ken Bado to Discuss Big Data Opportunities

SAN CARLOS, Calif. — September 15, 2011 — Big Data is transforming the way people do business and offers a big opportunity to organizations that can harness its power. MarkLogic Corporation, the company empowering organizations to make high stakes decisions on Big Data in real time, today announced that Ken Bado, president and CEO, MarkLogic, will present the keynote session “Big Data, Big Opportunity” at the O’Reilly Strata Conference New York on Friday, September 23 at 9:40 a.m. ET. In the keynote session, Ken Bado will present on how leveraging complex information is key for organizations trying to outflank their competition by managing Big Data in real-time.

“The major challenge companies are facing with Big Data is that they’re focusing on the ‘big’ and not the data,” said Bado. “The rise in unstructured information is the driving factor behind the Big Data movement, and it’s finding value in that complex information that will create a competitive advantage. Companies that focus on simply managing the size of the data risk being outflanked by their competitors.”

In addition to the keynote, Ron Avnur, senior vice president of engineering at MarkLogic, and Mark Rodgers, senior director of product engineering, LexisNexis will present the breakout session, “LexisNexis: Reinventing New Business with Big Data” on Friday, September 23 at 10:40 a.m. ET. Avnur and Rodgers will discuss the challenges LexisNexis faced to remain on the cutting edge of Big Data and will provide an overview of the technical implementation that enabled LexisNexis to address those challenges.
