SAN CARLOS, CA — June 2, 2008 — MarkLogic Corporation, a leading provider of infrastructure software for information applications, today announced that it has entered into an OEM partnership with empolis GmbH., a leading provider of information logistics solutions. empolis is a subsidiary of international media and communication services provider arvato, a corporate division of Bertelsmann.
Under the terms of the agreement, empolis will license and tightly integrate MarkLogic Server within its flagship products empolis:Content Lifecycle Suite (e:CLS), an advanced workflow and translation management platform for highly-modular XML content and empolis:Service Lifecycle Suite (e:SLS), a knowledge management solution that enables service representatives to locate the correct response to specific customer questions as quickly as possible. empolis’ existing and future customers will now leverage the robust capabilities and performance of MarkLogic Server to dynamically assemble and deliver targeted personalized technical documentation, providing just the right amount of information to each user at the time it is needed and in a preferred format.
Organizations use MarkLogic Server to unlock the full value of their content by improving how they integrate, enrich, and contextualize information to effectively deliver it to the various audiences they serve. Based on its ability to reliably handle extremely large volumes of both structured and unstructured content, and its highly scalable and expressive query capabilities, MarkLogic Server has enabled empolis to provide customers with pre-built sophisticated end-to-end content management and delivery applications that are configurable to meet specific user needs.
“Companies routinely make large investments in complex content management solutions, but often under invest in the most crucial aspect of the content lifecycle — the delivery of information to knowledge workers in a way that is useful and contextually significant,” said Bill Veiga, vice president of business development at MarkLogic Corporation. “The combination of MarkLogic Server bundled with e:CLS and e:SLS closes this critical gap by enabling organizations to more easily repurpose existing content in a fraction of the time that is traditionally required by conventional ECM systems.”
“Empolis is an established technology leader in the realm of topic-based XML content management, while MarkLogic is at the forefront of dynamic content delivery, providing millisecond response time against terabytes of content,” said Michel Manago, director of product management at empolis. “We are excited to extend the capabilities of e:CLS and e:SLS in order to offer our customers a complete end-to-end solution for authoring, managing, assembling and dynamically delivering personalized content anytime they need it.”
