SAN CARLOS, Calif. and FRANKFURT, Germany — November 18, 2010 — MarkLogic Corporation, the company revolutionizing the way organizations leverage unstructured information, today announced an agreement with De Gruyter, a high quality publisher of humanities and natural sciences publications, to use MarkLogic as the central component of its next generation publishing platform. The agreement establishes MarkLogic as the primary database for De Gruyter, and will enable library, corporate, and individual customers to search and leverage the millions of pieces of content that currently lives within the walls of the De Gruyter publishing house.

“The publishing industry today is in a state of flux as more and more of our customers make the shift from print to electronic media,” said Dr. Sven Fund, managing director, De Gruyter. “We are stepping into the future of publishing with MarkLogic by our side, and we couldn’t be more confident of our choice. MarkLogic provides us the ability to be agile and meet the future needs of an industry in the midst of a transformation.”

De Gruyter publishes and commercializes books, journals, and electronic media in various fields.
