MarkLogic’s Chief Strategy Officer and Intelligence Industry Veteran joins impressive speaker line up at leading defence event in London

London — 17 June, 2019

— MarkLogic Corporation, the next generation data platform provider for simplifying data integration, today announces that the company’s Chief Strategy Officer for Intelligence and Defence, Brigham Bechtel, will be one of the speakers at the 2019 Big Data for Defence Summit taking place this month. Brigham will join an impressive speaker line-up of experts presenting during the two-day event, which takes place from 25 – 27 June, at the Hilton London Olympia.

Big Data for Defence brings together senior officials and decision makers from across the defence sector. This year’s event will explore the opportunities arising in the defence industry to adapt civilian technological solutions to meet specific requirements and keep pace with civilian sector innovation and advancements.

Brigham’s presentation will take place on 26 June at 2:40 PM and will focus on the issue of data for AI in defence and intelligence. A 31-year veteran of the U.S. Intelligence Community, Brigham will draw on his experience to address the importance of having access to governed and clean mission critical data for AI algorithms at speed to give allied forces a decisive advantage across the full spectrum of operations.

Brigham joined MarkLogic in 2018 after 27 years’ service at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as a Senior Operations Officer. He began his career in the intelligence community as a Cryptologic Technician in the US Navy. He has also worked as an analyst covering counter-terrorism and military issues.

“It’s always a privilege and exciting to be included in a program with some of the best and brightest from the defence industry on such an important topic,” said Brigham. “At MarkLogic, we’ve seen how commercial data management and analytics have revolutionised the operational strategy of some of the largest companies in the world, including some major players in the defence sector. It’s great to have this opportunity to discuss how to apply these lessons, to share our experience of how modern data systems can transform the deluge of data in defence organisations into actionable intelligence.”

MarkLogic works with a number of major defence organisations, helping them to integrate and enrich the data they hold in silos to obtain reliable intelligence and store it securely. By streamlining the data integration process, MarkLogic® enables defence organisations to achieve a 360-degree view of the information they have available to them for faster communications and improved decision making.
