MarkLogic® and Warrior Gateway Join Forces for “Code Bash” Weekend

SAN CARLOS, Calif. — October 7, 2010 — When it’s time for a party, there’s no better place to be than a “Code Bash” especially when the end result of the “Bash” means helping the military community. MarkLogic Corporation, the company revolutionizing the way organizations leverage unstructured information, today announced that new features will soon be introduced to the Warrior Gateway as a result of the MarkLogic Warrior Gateway Code Bash held in Fairfax, VA. The code bash took place last weekend with MarkLogic employees, partners, and developers attending the event. Some of the new features developed during the round-the-clock work weekend included a Warrior Gateway search widget for websites, Facebook login, email invitations, and easier identification of appropriate service providers.

The Warrior Gateway serves as a trusted and reliable resource for the military community. The portal helps users quickly locate service organizations that satisfy their needs, while also allowing them to rate and comment on those services, giving users a “voice” in describing the quality of service and impact. Business Executives for National Security (BENS) is leading a coalition of non-profit, public, and corporate partners collaborating to build and expand the Warrior Gateway.

“MarkLogic and its developer community have done a tremendous job improving an essential tool for veterans returning home,” said Devin Holmes, executive director of the Warrior Gateway. “By adding key new functionality and making it easier for users to access and search the portal, we can maintain momentum to help veterans rejoin civilian life.”

“We are very pleased to have had such a terrific turn out and offer a big thank you to Rob Stolz of Customer Value Partners for allowing us to use their offices to host this great event,” said Eric Bloch, director, community at MarkLogic. “The Warrior Gateway is a great program that helps to address the real needs of veterans returning home. It is very rewarding to be able to use our expertise in social media, web applications, and search technology for such a worthy cause.”

New features developed at the code base include:

  • Search Widget – 3rd party websites can now easily add a Warrior Gateway search widget to their sites, allowing their visitors to search the Warrior Gateway
  • Facebook Login – Warrior Gateway users can log in via Facebook
  • Invite contacts – Users can now easily invite contacts from their email accounts in a safe and secure way
  • Virtual Service Provider Search – Warrior Gateway users can now identify service providers whose coverage is not defined by a geographic location
