Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of MarkLogic Data Hub Service, the fastest and most cost-effective way to integrate data from silos.

It provides all of the power and flexibility of MarkLogic Data Hub, but with none of the operational burden. As a data hub, it is an agile platform to integrate and curate data extremely quickly while also providing data governance and security. As a fully automated cloud service, it’s effortless to run with no infrastructure to buy and manage. On top of all that, it’s cost-effective and predictable even as enterprise workloads fluctuate.

Unmatched Agility

MarkLogic Data Hub enables both agile data integration and agile data infrastructure.

We built our data hub platform based on over a decade of experience in working on the data silo problem with some of the largest enterprises and government agencies in the world. They’ve completed large-scale data integration projects four to five times faster than with any other technology stack. While I’d love to give my team all of the credit, feedback from our customers over the years has been instrumental in helping us create the fastest, most agile approach to data integration.

Let me give you a couple examples. Check out how Northern Trust improved financial outcomes with more clients and higher employee engagement or how Eaton consolidated over a hundred ERP systems. These are all Fortune 500 companies that use the data hub at the core of their businesses. And while they are using it for very different use cases, they shared the same problem that all large enterprises face—data spread across silos.

MarkLogic Data Hub Service provides the same data hub technology that these organizations already use. It includes capabilities for data ingestion, harmonization, enrichment, mastering, governance and security—all right out of the box.

The great thing is that now it’s even easier to use and deploy because it’s offered as a cloud service. You just choose what capacity you want to start with and leave the rest to us. No figuring out which instance types are best, no storage configuration, no software installation, no updating and patching, no managing of HA or backups … you get the idea.

Focus on What Matters

Organizations today don’t want DevOps, they want NoOps. They want to focus all of their efforts on creating differentiated advantage, not tending to the plumbing. MarkLogic Data Hub Service lets them do just that by removing the operational burden.

This includes all of the details I mentioned above like managing hardware and dealing with software versions, but it goes well beyond. For example, the MarkLogic Data Hub Service is unmatched in the ability to auto-scale. Auto-scaling may not sound hard in a cloud environment, but it is spectacularly hard to do well when you’re dealing with massive volumes of data. The unique architecture of the underlying MarkLogic database allows us to scale up and down in seconds to meet the changing workload requirements. It happens quickly, transparently, automatically and predictably.

And because the service is built on top of the MarkLogic database, you can also rest easy knowing that your data is always consistent and available. MarkLogic Data Hub Service is built to handle the most demanding operational and transactional use cases with high-performance requirements and high-availability SLAs.

Unmatched Security and Governance

MarkLogic Data Hub Service tracks data and metadata together through the integration lifecycle so you can govern it all in one place rather than separately across dozens of apps. This alone brings a new level of security.

In addition, because MarkLogic Data Hub Service is built on the MarkLogic database, it has access to all of the advanced security capabilities MarkLogic is known for including advanced encryption, role-based access control, redaction and anonymization, and other capabilities that are unmatched by other databases.

Predictable Costs

All organizations face the reality that workloads will vary day by day, hour by hour or even minute by minute. But, while workloads vary, budgets don’t. MarkLogic Data Hub Service is designed to keep costs stable while workloads fluctuate.

You can start with a small cluster with defined limits, paying a fixed cost for that initial capacity. The service will scale up and down based on new and potentially unexpected demand, but the fixed cost stays just that—fixed.

And it’s not only a fixed price, it’s a low price. In fact, it can be less expensive to procure MarkLogic Data Hub Service than to procure raw hardware and free software. And that doesn’t even take into account the hidden costs of that “free” software, nor the fact that it can’t provide the same capabilities.

But it doesn’t stop there. We’ve also simplified your costs considerably because MarkLogic Data Hub Service is a unified platform with one bill. To get comparable capabilities with other technology, you would have to stitch together multiple other technologies (a document database, graph database and search engine to start)—all of which come with different, confusing and unpredictable cloud pricing models.

MarkLogic Data Hub Service is the fastest and most cost-effective way to integrate data from silos. That said, it’s not the only way to use MarkLogic. If a cloud service isn’t right for you, you’ll still be able to run MarkLogic in any environment (on-premises, hybrid, public cloud) using our Essential Enterprise licenses. All of these deployment options share the same proven enterprise capabilities of MarkLogic.
