Combined Semantics

What It Is

MarkLogic is the world’s only Enterprise Triple Store, managing documents, data, and triples together so you can discover, understand, and make decisions in context. MarkLogic 8 extends the use of standard SPARQL so you can do analytics (aggregates) over triples, explore semantics graphs using property paths, and update semantic triples – all using the standard SPARQL 1.1 language over standard protocols. In addition, MarkLogic 8 lets you discover new facts and relationships with automatic inference.

Combined Semantics

Why It Matters

We set a firm foundation for semantics in our last release, MarkLogic 7, in which we focused on getting core semantics capabilities deeply integrated into MarkLogic. That deep integration is what gives you all the Enterprise capabilities of MarkLogic – scalability, high availability and disaster recovery, ACID transactions, and government-grade security – that now work with your semantic triples. It also lets you combine semantics with full-text search, ranges, and geospatial, all in the same query.

In MarkLogic 8, we made another leap forward by providing full support for SPARQL 1.1 aggregates, property paths, and update. In addition, automatic inference means that MarkLogic can discover new (inferred) facts and relationships, making search results richer and showing you new relationships in your data. In MarkLogic 8.0-4, we added even more enhancements, taking performance to a higher level and adding support for standard Jena and Sesame APIs that many developers are already familiar with.
