What's New in MarkLogic Server 4.1?

MarkLogic Server 4.1 has a number of exciting new features that let organizations create, consume, and deliver secure information services and applications. Now you can incorporate more information processing into MarkLogic Server, thereby simplifying your information architecture and reducing development and maintenance costs.

These new features include:

Expanded REST (Representational State Transfer) Functionality — Build easy to create and integrate information services with expanded REST capabilities. New URL rewrite functionality means you can abstract application architecture away from the implementation. And full support for JSON (Java script object notation) means you can easily create and integrate RESTful services.

HTTPS / SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Support — Secure all your network communications with MarkLogic Server through new HTTPS/SSL support. You can now encrypt communications to web browsers, WebDAV connections, and all communications within a MarkLogic cluster. And rest assured that the information is secure at all points of exchange with your information applications.

Schema Validation — Now you can validate whole documents or parts of documents against any W3C XML Schema. This means improved management of valuable information assets by ensuring they meet the organizational requirements for structure, content, and typing.

Japanese Language Support — For the first time, organizations can leverage the advanced search and analytics functionality of MarkLogic Server on information authored in Japanese. Expanded language support now includes built-in support for language-specific stemming, tokenization, and entity enrichment of Japanese content.

Geo Helpers — Now it’s possible to do even more with the geospatial information embedded in your information. MarkLogic 4.1 expands on the geospatial capabilities introduced with the 4.0 release and adds features for calculating the intersection of two arcs, finding the bearing between two points, and calculating the shortest distance between two points.

Task Scheduler — The task scheduler allows organizations to regularly schedule tasks to be executed by the server. These might include regular processing—such as calling out to a text mining engine—or analyzing and reporting statistics related to information being stored in the server.

These new features combine with a number of additional enhancements to make MarkLogic Server a critical piece of your information infrastructure. For more information about MarkLogic Server click here.
