MarkLogic Examines Alternatives to the Relational Database Management System (RDBMS)
Upcoming Webcast to Discuss Why the World Does Not and Should Not Fit Neatly into Columns and Rows
SAN CARLOS, Calif. — June 22, 2010 — MarkLogic® Corporation, a leading provider of information infrastructure software, will host a webcast featuring independent research firm Forrester Research, Inc. to investigate an information challenge that enterprises are facing today – the growing mass of semi-structured and unstructured information. The traditional RDBMS can't keep up with this information tsunami and some of the world's largest organizations are now looking for alternatives. The webcast, titled, “RDBMS Alternatives: NoSQL, XML, and Other Game Changers” will be presented by Jason Hunter, principal technologist, MarkLogic, and Ken Chestnut, vice president of product marketing, MarkLogic, and will feature Noel Yuhanna, principal analyst, Forrester Research on Tuesday, June 29 at 11 a.m. (PT)/2 p.m. (ET). Attendees will have the opportunity to understand more about MarkLogic and other contenders that are challenging long-held assumptions about the best way to manage semi-structured and unstructured information. In addition to describing current trends and challenges in information management with a specific focus on XML and NoSQL, Yuhanna will also drill down into the specific benefits gained from using XML to handle massive amounts of complex data.
“This is a great opportunity to learn how organizations today are using MarkLogic Server to tackle information problems that their RDBMSs can't solve,” said Jason Hunter. ”Everything isn't about columns and rows anymore. People are breaking away from the table and moving to the alternatives, because alternatives like MarkLogic Server make systems faster, more scalable, and easier to develop.”
During this webcast, you will learn:
- Unique challenges that are pushing RDBMS out of the mainstream
- RDBMS alternatives such as XML databases
