MarkLogic and Temis Team to Provide Customers with Rich XML Applications

SAN CARLOS, CA — September 4, 2007 — MarkLogic Corporation, a leading provider of infrastructure software for information applications, today announced a partnership with Temis, a leading provider of text analytics solutions. The companies will work together to provide powerful XML content applications for the publishing, government, life sciences, and other industries and will work on co-marketing and co-selling opportunities.

Organizations use MarkLogic Server to unlock the value of their content, improving how they integrate, enrich, and contextualize it to deliver new products and services. With MarkLogic organizations can leverage existing content to easily create multiple new products on a single infrastructure, dramatically reducing time to market and costs involved in bringing new products to market.

Temis provides information discovery and knowledge extraction capabilities, with breakthrough solutions for indexing and organizing collections of documents and extracting information. Luxid, its next-generation information intelligence solution, provides automated content indexing through powerful semantic annotation and accurate content categorization.

Together, MarkLogic and Temis enable organizations to access large stores of previously untapped textual data, enrich this content automatically, and use it to create new content applications. For example, a newspaper publisher can use the Temis entity extraction software to enrich its content, adding tags pointing to products, locations, companies, and organizations mentioned in news articles. The publisher would then use MarkLogic to recombine the enriched content to enable users to perform fine-tuned search of news articles that mention a specific person or place.

“We are delighted to work with Temis to leverage their considerable expertise in entity extraction and text analysis,” said Dave Kellogg, chief executive officer of MarkLogic Corporation. “The MarkLogic and Temis technologies are naturally complementary, and we are already collaborating at several publishing companies to create rich content-based applications.”

“The combination of our two complementary technologies results in a unique and leading-edge solution already adopted by prestigious customers,” adds Eric Brégand, CEO of Temis. “I am very enthusiastic about this strategic partnership that materializes the natural fit between our two companies and acclaimed offerings. This alliance will shortly reach out to other verticals such as Life Sciences and Homeland Security.”

MarkLogic and Temis, both members of the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA), are co-sponsoring a networking reception and dinner at SIIA’s Global Information Industry Summit show in Berlin, Germany, on September 6. In addition, the two companies plan to hold a joint webinar demonstrating the value of their combined technologies later this year.
