Dave Kellogg
CEO
Dave Kellogg is CEO of MarkLogic and is responsible for the company’s worldwide business and setting the overall direction of the company. Since joining MarkLogic in 2004, Dave has grown MarkLogic from 40 to over 200 employees, raised nearly $30M in capital, and generated over $100M in cumulative sales. He is passionate about the database and analytics software industry where he has spent the past 20 years in marketing, operations, strategy, and product lifecycle management roles. Prior to joining MarkLogic, Dave was senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Business Objects, a leading business intelligence software company. Dave was a key member of the executive team that grew Business Objects from $30M in revenues and 250 people to over $850M in revenues and over 4,000 people during his nine years there. Before Business Objects, Dave was vice president of marketing at Versant Object Technology, a provider of object database management systems. He also held a number of technical and product marketing positions at Ingres, a provider of relational database systems. Dave sits on the board of big data analytics company, Aster Data. Dave has a dual bachelor’s degree in geophysics and applied mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, and a master’s degree in business administration from Saint Mary’s College. Christopher Lindblad
Founder and Chief Architect
Chris Lindblad is the founder and chief architect of MarkLogic and is responsible for driving advances in its award winning product. Chris has over 20 years experience developing software. He founded MarkLogic while working as an architect on Ultraseek Server, Infoseek’s enterprise search application, which is now one of Autonomy’s principal products following the acquisition of Verity. Chris had the overall responsibility for the creation of Ultraseek Server, including the architecture, design, and development. Prior to Infoseek, Chris pursued post-doctoral research in high-speed networks and real-time video processing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During his research tenure at MIT, Chris authored over 15 publications in internet and multi-media technologies. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and computer science from the California Institute of Technology, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in computer science from MIT.
David Ponzini
CFO
David Ponzini is CFO of MarkLogic where he oversees the finance and legal teams. Dave has a unique background, having held top roles in both finance and business development at leading companies in Silicon Valley including Inktomi Corporation, Verity, Autonomy, PeopleSoft, and Sun Microsystems. Prior to MarkLogic, Dave was vice president of corporate and business development at AlarmPoint Systems where he was instrumental in developing an OEM channel and managing the company’s strategic relationship with BMC Software. Before that, Dave served as vice president of corporate and business development at Verity, Inc., where he was responsible for the acquisition and integration of four companies. As vice president of business development at Inktomi, Dave managed partner strategy and key business relationships. Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from San Jose State University and master’s degree in business administration from Saint Mary’s College.
Mark Tice
Executive Vice President, Sales
Mark Tice is executive vice president of sales for MarkLogic and is charged with growing the worldwide sales team and growing the company’s business globally. Mark has more than 20 years of experience in enterprise software executive management, sales, and business development. Prior to joining MarkLogic, he was with Oracle Corp. in senior management positions following Oracle’s acquisition of Bridgestream, Inc. in 2007. As CEO of Bridgestream, Mark relaunched the company, built out the management team, opened up the market for Bridgestream in Europe, and drove a very successful exit for the company. Prior to Bridgestream, Mark was executive vice president and general manager of Mantas Software, a company specializing in the financial services market. Before Mantas, Mark served as a group vice president at Business Objects for five years, and also led OEM sales at Sybase. Mark has a bachelor of science degree in systems science and economics from UCLA.
Max Schireson
Executive Vice President, Customer Solutions
Max Schireson is executive vice president of customer solutions for MarkLogic and is responsible for the teams that are actively engaged and support the success of MarkLogic customers. Max brings more than 18 years of experience in database, web, and enterprise software solutions to his role. Prior to joining MarkLogic, Max held a variety of executive positions at Oracle, including vice president of applications development and chief applications architect. In those positions, Max led a team of over 200 professionals and ran an $80 million business unit. Max also held information technology responsibilities for the Oracle web store, which accounted for over 70 percent of US orders, and for Oracle's web technical support infrastructure, which processed over 80 percent of customer support requests for more than 400,000 Oracle customers. In addition, Max started Oracle's e-commerce consulting practice, which he grew to over 200 consultants and over $50 million in revenue, worldwide.
Tracy Eiler
Senior Vice President, Marketing
Tracy Eiler is senior vice president of marketing for MarkLogic and is responsible for making MarkLogic known as the undisputed leader in revolutionizing the way enterprises manage information. Tracy leads a team that organizes and energizes marketing strategy, communications, and programs for the company. She has more than 22 years of enterprise software marketing experience in sales-driven companies. Prior to joining MarkLogic, Tracy was vice president of corporate marketing at SaaS company Postini where she created a closed-loop lead-to-sale process that resulted in predictable revenue growth. Google purchased Postini in 2007 for $625M. Prior to Postini, Tracy served as vice president of corporate marketing at Business Objects (now part of SAP), running all aspects of the company’s global corporate marketing from media/analyst relations, corporate websites, brand identity, sales support, worldwide events, global demand generation campaigns, and internal communications. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Michigan. Tracy volunteers her time in support of a number of causes, including domestic violence and the arts.
Ron Avnur
Vice President, Engineering
Ron Avnur is the vice president of engineering at MarkLogic and is responsible for the development and support of MarkLogic Server and associated products and technologies. He joined the company in 2003, prior to its first product release. Ron has a wide-range of experience from Silicon Valley start-ups to large enterprise software companies, where he has specialized in database query optimization and performance. Ron has held engineering, consulting and pre-sales positions at Cohera, a distributed database startup that was acquired by PeopleSoft. He also helped lead business development at Business Layers, a security software startup acquired by Netegrity, and also served as a programmer at Informix Software, which was purchased by IBM in 2001. Ron holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science and a master's degree in computer science from University of California, Berkeley.
Jason Monberg
Vice President, Product Management
Jason Monberg is vice president of product management for MarkLogic. He leads product strategy and vision for the MarkLogic product line. Jason has deep experience building and managing server based product for both corporate and consumer markets, as well as consulting for large companies delivering enterprise solutions. Prior to joining MarkLogic, Jason was founder of Dashlight Software, a web-based application that enables users to manage personal information online from any device or location. Before Dashlight, Jason was vice president of application products at Composite Software, a leading provider of virtual data integration software. In his career, Jason additionally founded two technology start-ups – Carbon Five, a purveyor of J2EE development solutions, and Sparks.com, a consumer gift and personalization company where he also served as chief technology officer. Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Wesleyan University.
Josh Narva
Vice President, People
Josh Narva is the vice president of people for MarkLogic and oversees recruiting, human resources, facilities, administration, and IT functions at the company. He has over 15 years experience building highly effective management teams at rapidly growing, venture-backed start-up companies. Josh was one of the first to believe in the brilliance behind the MarkLogic technology, joining the company in 2003 as one of the first 10 employees. Josh has been personally involved in hiring each one of the more than 200 employees at the company today. Prior to MarkLogic, Josh was director of recruiting at Harmonic Communications, a Sequoia Capital portfolio company, where he played an integral role in building the executive team and recruiting and retaining top employee talent. Before Harmonic, Josh was an associate in the international technology practice of Heidrick & Struggles. He began his career as a research analyst in the Boston office of McDermott, Will & Emery, a large international law firm. Josh received his bachelor’s degree in government and law with honors from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Mark Kvamme
Chairman
Mark Kvamme focuses on services and software investments for Sequoia Capital. He is currently a Director of Cast Iron Systems, AdBrite, EMN8, MarkLogic, MotoSport.com, LinkedIn, and StrongMail Systems. Previously, he was a director of Corvigo (acquired by Tumbleweed Communications) and Allocity (acquired by EMC). Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 1999, Mark was chairman of USWeb/CKS and chairman and chief executive officer of CKS Group prior to its merger with USWeb. Earlier in his career Mark was a director of international marketing for Wyse Technology, the president and chief executive officer of International Solutions, and a founding member of Apple France. Mark has a bachelor's degree in French economics and literature from the University of California at Berkeley.
Tom Banahan
Tom is a Managing Director of Tenaya Capital. He initially joined the predecessor to Tenaya (Lehman Brothers Venture Partners) in 1999, and co-founded Tenaya in 2009. Previously, Tom spent 20 years working as an operational manager in the technology industry. Most recently, he was the vice president of business development for Marimba. Tom joined Marimba as the 14th employee and was involved in all areas of the company's growth through its successful public offering in April 1999. Prior to Marimba, Tom was the vice president of worldwide sales for Spyglass. He joined Spyglass as the 23rd employee and was instrumental in helping the company deliver a string of 12 consecutive profitable quarters that positioned Spyglass as the first Internet company to access the public equity markets in June 1995. Tom started his career in the sales organization at IBM where he spent seven years. Tom holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Jeff Miller
Jeff Miller is an accomplished senior executive and venture capitalist with over 30 years of experience working with some of the hottest software companies in Silicon Valley. From 1993 to 2001, he served as president and chief executive officer of Documentum, Inc., growing it to become one of the fastest growing technology companies in the world. Miller founded business and consulting firm JAMM Ventures. Prior to JAMM Ventures, he was a venture partner with Redpoint Ventures, where he specialized in emerging enterprise and infrastructure software markets. In addition to Documentum, Miller held a variety of senior marketing and executive management positions at Intel Corporation, Adaptec, Inc., Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc., and Cadence Design Systems, Inc. He currently serves on the board of McAfee, Inc. Miller also recently served on the board of Data Domain, Inc., which was acquired by EMC in 2009.
Thomas Weatherford
Thomas Weatherford has over 35 years of experience in senior financial positions for global technology companies. Thom retired in 2003 as executive vice president and chief financial officer of business intelligence software leader Business Objects S.A., having held that position since 1997. He previously held senior financial positions at NETCOM On–Line Communication Services, Logitech, Texas Instruments, Schlumberger, and Tandem Computers in the US, Europe, and Japan. In addition to MarkLogic, Thom currently serves on the boards of Advanced Analogic Technologies, Mellanox, SMART Modular Technologies, Tesco Corporation, and several private companies. He holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Houston.
