Geospatial

MarkLogic Server enables you to create applications that unlock the geospatial information within your content. Location based services built using these geospatial capabilities allow users to add geospatial context to their queries getting people more quickly to the information in their area of interest. The geospatial capabilities provide intuitive access to content that has been tagged with geographic information and takes advantage of popular geographic XML standards like GeoRSS/Simple, KML and GML.

With the geospatial capabilities, users can search across vast stores of content to find information that mentions locations in which they are interested. High-performance indexing gives them the ability to search for a specific point, as well as content within a radius, box or arbitrary polygon with thousands of vertices. This means you can search over real-world geographic features like countries, states, districts or whatever geographic space you want to represent.

The geospatial support includes a bucketing capability, that dynamically groups content based on locations within the content and enables users to interactively explore information using maps and heat-map displays of information. As a user drills down into information, colors indicate where the highest concentrations of content matching the query are located. And because it can be combined with the alerting capabilities, your users can always know when new content is loaded, that matches their area of interest.
