Alerting
MarkLogic Server enables you to create alerting applications that push the right content to users even before they ask for it. Alerting enables organizations to get information to users fast because it proactively monitors new content and takes action when user-created rules match the information. The alerting capability means that users do not have to continually search to find out if new relevant content is available. Alerting is ideal for monitoring continuous information streams, such as news feeds delivered using RSS, and ATOM. Just the most relevant content can be automatically delivered to users based on their specific interests. Built on the highly-scalable MarkLogic Server architecture, the alerting capability easily supports millions of user-generated rules.
The alerting capabilities are available from an easy to use XQuery based API for building applications, that dynamically deliver content via a range of methods. These delivery methods include web, email, SMS, RSS, ATOM and more, allowing users to create and save searches, that notify them on their device of choice when new or updated content arrives.
The alerting capability works seamlessly with the other content processing capabilities within MarkLogic Server. For example, users can create alerts, that combine full-text search criteria with entity enrichment or geospatial capabilities. These combinations of capabilities enable organizations to create applications, that can deliver content to users in a more precise context; for example, they can look for information on a specific service near their location.
