Where will you be 11:35 pm EST on Saturday, October 3rd? I bet, like me, many of you will be lounging on the couch and laughing while watching the premiere of the 41st season of Saturday Night Live (SNL).
To get ready, I’m getting reacquainted with the fun and smart application NBC created on MarkLogic. But let me take off my MarkLogic expert hat and put on the hat of the die-hard app fan that I am.
If you haven’t downloaded the free app you owe it to yourself to do so. Once you choose your opening era — the predictive engine, powered by MarkLogic semantics, kicks in. I chose the late 80s and immediately I could browse through the terrific skits, characters and musical performances. Hanz & Franz? Not so intrigued. But with a flick there was the Church Lady. Yes! This was great. And as I learned the app – the app learned me. Suggesting: Deep Thoughts, Phil Hartman, Simon & Garfunkel, Alec Baldwin, Soundgarden and all the memorable episodes that have kept me faithful over the years. Decades since I first watched it — SNL had me again.
NBC has touched me (and my colleagues) on a professional level, but more importantly with its predictive engine on a personal level as a fan. That’s really the goal of every integration project – touching your customer in a meaningful way. Keeping them engaged, loyal and wanting more. This fan is sold. And I’m not alone — the app received not one but two Emmy nominations!
