MarkLogic User Conference May 12-14, 2009

Your conference pass will include full admission to:

User Conference Cancellation Policy

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to MarkLogic at ked@k2events.com. If a cancellation is received on or before Monday, April 13, 2009 (5:00 pm PDT), your registration fee will be refunded, less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received after this date.

Substitution Policy

All substitution requests must be made in writing to MarkLogic at ked@k2events.com. Once your request is received by the registration team, you will receive instructions on how to register as a substitute on the main registration website. All substitution requests must be made on or before Monday, May 4, 2009 (5:00 pm PDT). After this date, no substitutions will be allowed.

Please note the following regarding substitutions:

If you are substituting for another person and you do not qualify for their discounted rate (i.e., alumni) you will be given the rate you qualify under at the time the original person registered. Substitutions will be permitted only between individuals from the same company. The registration fee will not be refunded but will be transferred to pay for the registration fee of the new attendee.

Anyone who has worked with Mike knows this is one session not to miss. Our resident performance and scalability guru will discuss important architecture fundamentals and considerations, plus provide demos in the inimitable Michael Blakeley style. He’ll describe how MarkLogic Server fits into various environments (J2EE, .NET, SOA, etc.) and leave ample time for Q&A. This half-day class is intended for architects with little or no MarkLogic Server experience.

Hotel Reservations

Hotel Cancellation Policy

Individual cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the date of arrival in order for individuals to avoid loss of first night’s deposit. Hotel Business Center Services

InterContinental San Francisco’s business center services are available 24-hours and are located on the hotel's 3rd floor. The Business Center is a full service business center including copying, printing, fax, high speed internet and secretarial services.

Ground Transportation Information

All ground transportation between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) or other local area airports is the responsibility of each individual. There are taxis and shuttle services available right outside the baggage claim area of the airports.

Taxi Information

Taxis are readily available with no reservation required. The cost from SFO to downtown San Francisco is approximately $40 per taxi. The cost from OAK to downtown San Francisco is approximately $55 per taxi.

Airport Shuttle

SuperShuttle serves both San Francisco and Oakland airports. To make a reservation, please call (800) 258-3826. The cost from SFO to downtown San Francisco is approximately $16 per person. The cost from OAK to downtown San Francisco is approximately $25 per person.

Public Transportation (BART)

The subway, known as BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), stops at the Powell Street Station, which is located 3-1/2 city blocks from the hotel. For more information on BART, visit www.bart.gov or call (510) 569-8310.

One way fare from the San Francisco airport to the BART Powell station is $5.35; one way fare from the Oakland airport to the BART Powell Station is $3.55 (plus an additional $3.00 fee for AirBART bus shuttle to BART station.)

Using BART from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to San Francisco InterContinental:

  • Follow BART signs from the baggage claim area of the airport.
  • SFO BART Station is located on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal (Boarding Area G side). BART is easily accessed from any terminal by riding SFO's AirTrain to the Garage G/BART Station stop. There is no charge to board AirTrain.
  • Take the Pittsburg/Bay Point-Daly City train towards Pittsburg/Bay Point.
  • Exit the Powell Street station to Fifth Street.
  • Walk two blocks to Howard Street and turn left.
  • The Intercontinental is located on 888 Howard Street between Third and Fourth Streets on the left hand side.

Using BART from Oakland International Airport (OAK) to San Francisco InterContinental:

  • Follow BART signs from the baggage claim area of the airport.
  • Take the AirBART shuttle bus from the Oakland airport to the BART Coliseum/Oakland Airport station. The shuttle operates between OAK and the BART Coliseum/Oakland Airport station daily, approximately every 10 minutes, until midnight. Service begins at 5 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and at 8 a.m. on Sundays. There is a single shuttle stop for both terminals, located between Terminal 1 and 2 at OAK's third curbside. One-way regular fare is $3.00. Fares can be paid on-board bus with exact change only or with a $1.00 or $3.00 BART ticket (available for purchase at the Coliseum station). NOTE: Bus ticket machines do not make change.
  • Take either the Fremont-Daly City or Dublin/Pleasanton-SFO/Millbrae train towards Daly City.
  • Exit the Powell Street station to Fifth Street.
  • Walk two blocks to Howard Street and turn left.
  • The Intercontinental is located on 888 Howard Street between Third and Fourth Streets on the left hand side.

Driving Directions from Area Airports

The hotel is conveniently located only:

  • 20 minutes north of San Francisco International Airport
  • 30 minutes west of Oakland International Airport

FROM SFO (San Francisco International): Take US-101 North via the ramp to San Francisco and continue for 11.4 miles. Take a slight right at I-80 (signs for Bay Bridge/I-90/Oakland/7th St/US-101N), and take the 4th Street exit. Take a slight left at Bryant Street, then turn left at 3rd Street. Turn left at Howard Street. Hotel entrance is on the right-hand side.

FROM OAK (Oakland International): Head West on Airport Drive toward Alan Shepard Way. Turn right at Alan Shepard Way. Turn right at John Glenn Drive. Turn left at Airport Drive, then a slight right to stay on Airport Drive (signs for Doolittle Dr/CA-61/Rental Car Center). Turn left at Doolittle Drive. Turn right at Hegenberger Road. Merge onto I-880 N via the ramp to Downtown Oakland. Take the exit on the left onto I-80 W toward San Francisco/Bay Bridge (Toll Road). Take 5th Street exit on the left toward US-101 N/Golden Gate Bridge. Slight right at 5th Street. Turn right at Minna Street. Turn right at 4th Street. Turn right at Howard Street.

Parking Information

A special rate has been negotiated with the hotel for MarkLogic guests for onsite valet parking at the InterContinental. The overnight rate is $35/night and the day rate is $25/day. Climate

In May, San Francisco temperatures average a high of 65° F, dropping to an average low of 50° F. Fog often rolls in around 5pm in the evening and departs before noon the next day. The air conditioning in the conference rooms can be quite cool and the foggy evenings can be chilly. Please plan to bring a light jacket or sweater to keep warm.
